FTA Safety Management Council
Florida Trucking Association's Safety Management Council (SMC) is made up of safety professionals from its member companies. Their primary goal is simple - make trucking in Florida as safe as possible. With this simple goal in mind the SMC operates year round. With wide ranging programs and public relation campaigns, the SMC has increased both public and industry awareness of the importance of Trucking safety in Florida.
Florida Professional Truck Driving Championships, Driver of the Year, No-Zone (Share the Road), and Joint Florida/Georgia Voluntary Roadside Inspections are but a few of the many programs initiated and supported by the FTA's safety professionals. The SMC works closely with the various regulatory agencies in Florida and nationwide, and has been recognized by the Federal Highway Administration for its efforts to increase safety levels in Florida.
If you are concerned about the public image of your industry and safety on our highways - then come meet your peers at the next quarterly SMC meeting.
The Florida Trucking Association's Safety Management Council conducts four quarterly meetings to address many of the topics with which you should be familiar. At present, we have more than 100 companies (carriers and allied industries) that are already council members, and we invite you to join that group. Be an active member of this growing council.
Ensuring the practice of safe driving is in the broad public interest and can be achieved through a partnership between the Safety Management Council and the local community. Complete the application above and return it to the FTA. Don't miss out on this opportunity to become part of the Safety Management Council.
