FTA Committees
Committees are important to the success of this Association. Through active participation members continue to help the FTA Board of Directors and FTA Staff by recommending new programs and developing relationships to keep our industry moving forward. Committees are appointed each year following the election of a new chairman to office. If you would like to become active in one or more of the following committees, contact the FTA office.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Purpose: The Membership Committee and its designated subcommittees shall actively participate in membership recruitment/retention programs, working to increase membership involvement, and develop programs that are beneficial to members, including meetings of all FTA members within each of the respective regions. Regions include: North, Central East, Central West, South, and West Florida.
LEGISLATIVE AND GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Purpose: The Legislative and Governmental Relations Committee and its designated subcommittees are charged with making recommendations to provide guidance to FTA on local, state, and national issues affecting the trucking industry. The chairman of this committee is a former Chairman of the Board.
SAFETY EDUCATION & TICOTH COMMITTEE
(THE INDUSTRY COMMITTEE ON THEFT AND HIJACKING)
Purpose: The Safety Education and TICOTH Committee shall act as liaison between the FTA Board of Directors and the FTA Safety Management Council. The committee will work closely with the Safety Management Council and the Membership Committee to promote safety related educational training for the FTA membership through safety/educational seminars and programs. The TICOTH arm of the committee is responsible for developing and recommending effective plans to ATTACK THE THEFT AND HIJACKING problem. The committee is also responsible for promoting and actively supporting programs that have safety as a goal.
INSURANCE COMMITTEE
Purpose: The Insurance Committee is responsible for recommending new insurance programs that are beneficial, necessary and cost-effective for the membership. The committee also provides consulting advice on insurance programs and policies.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Purpose: The Public Relations Committee is responsible for developing programs to improve the public image of the trucking industry by implementation of special projects, supplying speakers for civic groups, and other worthwhile programs.
METRO PLANNING ORGANIZATION COMMITTEE
Purpose: The MPO Committee duties are to review the agendas, monitor and attend Florida Metropolitan Planning Organization meetings as they relate to truck transportation in their respective areas. There are 26 Florida MPOs in the state of Florida that have a voice in Florida transportation planning.
